HOW TO
GET RID OF UNWANTED HAIRS ? |
|
|
|
|
Methods
Of Hair Removal Fall Into Two Categories:
DEPILATION-means that the hair is removed at the
skin line. Shaving and using chemical depilatories are examples of
depilation. Depilatories are chemicals that dissolve the hair so that
it can be wiped or washed away.
EPILATION-means that the hair is removed below the
surface of the skin. The advantage of epilating over depilation is
that it will take longer for the hair to grow back if the hair is
removed by epilating. Also if epilating is performed repeatedly on
the same area over a prolonged period of time, the quantity of hair
will be permanently reduced. Examples of epilating include waxing,
tweezing, laser and electrolysis.
Facial hair is still one of the last taboos for women, which makes
life even harder for those who suffer from it.

The
unwanted hair often appears on the upper lip, chin and sides of the
face. Before you decide on the proper removal method, first determine
that the cause of the hair growth is not hormonal. If you are experiencing
an abnormal growth of hair on these facial areas, or if the hair is
very thick, you should consult your doctor to determine the underlying
causes before you embark on a removal regime.
If the hair growth isn't caused by hormonal abnormalities, you have
a number of different options for removal. Using tweezers is fine
for eyebrows, but a no-no for facial hair.
Repeated plucking can cause irritation in the hair follicle and, on
darker-skinned women, can also result in scarring. Unless you have
just a few stray hairs that occasionally pop up, leave the tweezers
in the bathroom cabinet.
Depilatory creams dissolve the hair at the base of the follicle. They
are ideal for widespread areas (like the legs), but can be problematic
when used on the face because they irritate the skin and usually don't
remove all of the hairs. On the plus side, depilatory creams are a
relatively inexpensive option. On average, results will last for one
to two weeks. |

Waxing For Hair Removal |
|
| |
|
| Waxing
is one of the most popular solutions of removing unwanted hair in
both large and small areas. Hair can be removed with a minimum amount
of discomfort. There are two types of waxing techniques. The first
and most common method is warm waxing. The second method is cold waxing.
Cold waxing is the method that most people use at home. Cold wax can
be bought at any drugstore and it usually comes in tubes. The directions
on the package are easy to follow. Warm waxing is more effective than
cold waxing and is the type of hair removal that we perform in beauty
parlors. Any hair baring area can be waxed including the mustache,
chin, eyebrows, legs etc.
Generally, it is an effective method to remove hair on the upper lip
and fine hair on the side of the face, but it is not recommended for
the chin area, where hair tends to be coarser.
Waxing can also be problematic for darker-skinned
women, who sometimes experience discoloration due to irritation and
inflammation. Depending on the type of hair you have, waxing results
should last from two to six weeks.

How Lasers
Remove Hair
|
|
| Laser
hair removal systems gently remove unwanted hair. Laser light energy
creates heat as it passes through the skin and targets darker colored
pigment, melanin, found in the follicle and hair. By heating up the
hair follicle during its active phase, the laser disables the follicle's
ability to produce hair without affecting surrounding tissue. In clinical
trials to date using a number of different lasers and intense pulsed
light hair removal systems, some test sites remained hair-free for
up to 2 years.
Is It Permanent?
No. There is no guarantee that laser hair removal will be permanent,
but will likely reduce the total number of hairs growing back after
treatment. In addition, the hair that does grow back is often lighter
and finer.

Electrolysis |
|
Electrolysis or electrology is permanent hair removal by the process
of inserting a fine, solid, pre-sterilized needle (wire, or probe)
into a hair follicle and applying a small amount of electrical current
to permanently destroy the hair growth cells.
Electrolysis uses low-level electricity to kill the hair follicles.
On the positive side, results last longer than with waxing and depilatories
- but the process can be time consuming and costly.
It's essential to find a reputable
practitioner because electrolysis performed incorrectly can cause
scarring. Before you begin treatment, ask for referrals from former
clients, and make sure that a new needle is used for each session.
Electrolysis is generally recommended for women with white or very
blonde hair and for women who have areas with isolated hairs.
